Also, all this hostility towards Jim Tressel for not voting in the Coaches Poll is ridiculous. "Way to support the Big Ten." "Tressel is gutless." His vote would not have matter anyways. He was not trying to create controversy. Lastly, go whip USC ass in the Rose Bowl so we can finish the season 1 and 2 in the polls.

To Florida fans:

You have a great team and I am looking forward to this match up. However, one thing I really do not understand is why they say the Gators has the "Florida speed and athleticism." Are you kidding me? Yes, you are fast and athletic, but we aren't? I would challenge any Gator to Ted Ginn in a foot race. I am confident we will win this game, but also I am humble because I know what it is like when the country already crowns a winner before the game has been played a la 2002. See you in 33 days.

- Buckeye Chatter staff

Go Bucks!

2006 Coach of the Year

Artifical Turf in the Horseshoe

Artifical Turf to be install after the 2007 spring game. Estimated cost is between $400,000 and $600,000. Personally, I think this is the right decision because now they can host more events such as the OHSAA football playoffs. This could be a determining factor in getting recruits to commit to Ohio State. One thing I don't understand is why they don't put it in now or even before the spring game next year. It will be interesting to see what the endzones look like. Will it be the traditional Ohio State/Buckeyes in the endzones or will they change it up.

Read DDN, TPD, and Ohio States HCS

Major Wright

Safety Major Wright is out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He most likely will not announce his commitment until signing day. Wright will play for the East squad in the Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 6th. I'm hungover. My throat hurts. My head hurts, but man does it feel good. The Buckeyes are Glendale bound and Troy pretty much locked up the Heisman. What more could you ask for? If Tressel gives the Buckeyes a title shot every 4 years, he will be around for a long time. The only bad thing about yesterday...now I have to wait 50 days until the next game.

Bucknuts Photos
The O-Zone Photos
ESPN Recap
Pat Forde ESPN article

In the Pat Forde article, Kirk Barton talked with Pat:

Barton said he'd prefer USC over the Fighting Irish.
"I'll be rooting against Notre Dame," Barton said. The guy is 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, so I'd imagine it would take more than a glass or two to make Barton silly.
But pressed for details on why he doesn't like the Fighting Irish -- whom the Buckeyes whipped 36-20 last year in the Fiesta Bowl -- Barton didn't back off very far.
"I don't know," he said, before going sarcastically diplomatic. Lately, I have been thinking of how sweet it would be to hear Keith Jackson (if he is even doing the game) say "Goodbye, Hello Heisman" as he did in 1991 when Desmond Howard scored on a punt return. Forever will that image of him striking the heisman pose fuel my hatred of Michigan. Picture this. Instead, Troy Smith drops back and can't find anyone open...he steps up and spins off of Lamar Woodley's grasping hands, leaving his jock-strap on the 28 yard line...pump fakes to Ginn and runs up field...makes a juke move on Leon Hall at the 8 yard line and walks into the endzone as he strikes the pose, enbedding an image for Michigan fans to think about for 365 days.

As for my prediction...I don't have one. Michigan is a great football team, as is Ohio State. They are the two best teams in the country and they have proved that week after week. I am usually pesamistic about OSU football (I grew up watching John Cooper's teams), but I truely believe we are the better football team, I just hope we can prove that on 11/18. All I know is that I'm so freakin' excited I might pee myself.

Sod Update/Michigan fans

I stopped by the stadium today to check it see if the sod was game day ready. Now, I'm not a turf grass science major or anything but it definitely looks better than it did the first time they resoded. The grass looked a little long, which is probably a good thing knowing it probably rooted better this time. I'm sure they will cut it before game time on Saturday.

Lastly, there is an email going around that was sent to Michigan students. The email is read as follows:

--Try carpooling to the game; if possible, drive a car with non- Michigan license plates.

--Keep your Michigan gear to a minimum, or wait until you are inside the stadium to display it.

--Stay with a group.

--Know and obey the laws regarding alcohol use.

--If you are of legal age to drink, use alcohol in moderation. Stay in the blue.

--Stay low-key; don't draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

--If verbally harassed by opposing fans, don't take the bait.

--Avoid High Street in Columbus.

I myself, have been to 4 or 5 Michigan games and have not seen anyone suffer physical abuse. Verbal, yes. But not physical. I attended the 2001 OSU Michigan game in Ann Arbor and had ketchup and mustered thrown all over me during the game. I also was a victim of verbal abuse (ps - you can throw a Buick on me if you want, as long as we win). The reason I'm saying this, is because Michigan fans believe Ohio State fans are nasty and are complaining we are classless. Here is the video of the 2002 game:

A couple things. Open container was legal then, which was changed to illegal the following year. Also I read someone said Columbus is a dirty city and Ann Arbor is beautiful. Well if Ohio State's campus was in Dublin, OH then our city would be beautiful too. Ann Arbor is probably closest to Detroit and there is a clean city for you (hint the sarcasm). Now, I am not a fan that would say anything to a Michigan fan unless they decide to say something first. As an Ohio State fan, this may shock Michigan fans, but I hate Notre Dame more than Michigan. Of course there will be an exception to that on 11/18.

OSU vs. scUM

Here is a background I made for this weeks game versus Michigan. At least for me. It depends on a lot of things. Is this going to be the Northwestern team that lost to #2 Michigan by only 14 and beat Iowa by 14, or is it going to be the team that lost to New Hampshire 34-17 or Purdue 31-10? Other factors would include whether or not Tressel will mix up the play calling this week or is Ohio State looking past this game to Michigan? I am hoping that all the Illinois game did was light fire under Ohio State for the remaining games of the season. Walk the walk. Be the hunter. Leave no doubters that Ohio State is the number one team in the country. I think Pittman is frustrated from last game (32 carries 58 yards) and is looking to truck stick someone. Once again, stay healthy, be efficient, and hopefully they bought super glue for Beanie.

Prediction: OSU 34 Northwestern 6

Game Data: Bucknuts
Buckeye Plant Game Preview

Laurinaitis

Here you go you Laurinaitis fans, fresh off the presses.

Other than that, here is the O-Zone's breakdown of the Illinois game. The most interesting part was this paragraph found in the article. I am a 100% Tressel-backer...but come on Tress, the play calling was atrocious in the second half.

"If you look at the play-by-play of the OSU offense in the second half, you'll see that the Buckeyes ran the ball on first down every time but one (a three yard loss on a screen pass). What you won't see is that at the beginning of the second half, the Buckeyes ran the SAME PLAY on first down four straight times (out of different formations) for a grand total of one yard. It was clear that the Illinois defense was doing a very good job getting penetration on Ohio State's stretch plays, but the Buckeyes kept calling them (11 times for -3 yards in the game...seven of those called in second half). Part of the problem with the Ohio State offense in the second half has to be the coaching staff, who also seemed to get a little complacent and stubborn with the play-calling. "

...it is amazing we even won the game.

2002 Ohio State Buckeyes??

Did Craig Krenzel suit up as number 10 for the Buckeyes this weekend? Was that Matt Wilhelm, Cie Grant and Mike Doss playing defense? Every part of this game reminded me of the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes. Run, Run, Pass. All game. I really wasn't scared of losing this game but I sure felt some of the feelings I felt 4 years ago. Anxiety, fear, worry: You know, the formula for a heart attack. I enjoyed the stress free Saturday's each week this year. It was nice. Can we please go back to winning football games by 44. Oh well, like Cie Grant said after the Cincinnati game in 2002, "A win is a win." I suppose there is only one stat that matters and that is 10-0.

Bucknuts Photos and Game Analysis

The-Ozone Photos and Game Analysis

Lastly, I am still looking for Northwestern tickets this coming up weekend. Hopefully this game will be another stepping stone towards the showdown in Columbus on November 18th. I think the Buckeyes come out slow, even though I say that every week and it has yet to really happen. My favorite line was by Troy Smith when he said something along the lines of Ohio State looking at each game as the hunters, rather than the hunted. This mentality has seemed to work and hopefully works today. I believe Antonio Pittman has another big day with over a hundred yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. As you can see, there are about a third of the way done and probably wont be complete until Saturday or Sunday. The sod will have a little extra time to settle this time since we have Illinois and Northwestern away back to back weeks. Hopefully this extra time will give the sod time to settle and root.

New Turf...Again.

The new turf that was laid after the Penn State game, was removed once again following the Minnesota game. Supposedly, the South-West corner of the field was 2 inches lower causing water to collect in the one spot. Some spots were so bad, they just painted the dirt green to make it appear like turf. My question is, how can you be 2 inches off when leveling the field? Lastly, I can't imagine Ohio State going to field turf next year now because why would they replace the turf for one game, even though it will probably be one of the biggest games in the historical Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.

The O-Zone.net photos

"Ohio State will re-sod Horseshoe once again" Antonio Pittman rushed for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries. While Beanie Wells rushed for a career high, 90 yards with a touchdown. Troy Smith scrambled for his first rushing touchdown of the year (by the way, they guys jockstrap is probably still laying on the 10 or 15 yard line). I was pretty fired up when Beanie fumbled the ball on the Minnesota 15 yard line, but other than that, it was nice to see the Bucks run the ball all game. Ray Small got JACK UP and was out with a concussion, as was Anthony Gonzalez in the second half. One more thing....get field turf next year please. He plays both safety and wide receiver in high school. Looks pretty talent at both positions. Good instincts. Has a nose for the ball and doesn't seem afraid to hit someone. I'd most like to see him at wide out in college because we lack the ideal height of a wide receiver. Eugene is 6'2", while Teddy, Gonzo, and Ray Small are all listed at 6'0", which is probably a pretty friendly measurement. I'd like to see Ohio State develop a player into a Calvin Johnson or a David Boston. Someone to go up and get it in the red zone. The Buckeyes are deep at safety as is, especially since they have 2 other commits (Devon Torrence and Nate Oliver) recruited at safety.

Ohio State to host Minnesota

Heisman favorite, Troy Smith, and the Ohio State Buckeyes will host a 3-5 Minnesota Golden Gopher team this Saturday in Ohio Stadium. Ohio State is tied (with Louisiana State) for the national lead in scoring defense, allowing 8.25 points per game. Last week Minnesota barely beat a Division I-AA team, defeating North Dakota State, 10-9. A Division I-AA team held the Gophers to 10 points so I cannot imagine Ohio State giving up much more. Hopefully this one is over by the 3rd quarter so we can see the young bucks play. Pittman ran for a career-high 186 yards last year at Minnesota and I don't see it being any different this year. Pitt rushes for 125+ with 2 trips to the pay dirt. Second and third teams give up a late touchdown.

Prediction: OSU 45 Minn 13

Video press conference of Glen Mason talking about the buckeyes.

Golden Bear to dot "i" for homecoming game

Jack Nicklaus will join only two other nonband members when he dots the "i" in script Ohio on Saturday. Here is one of them. I'll post some others later. Basically I am posting this to learn how to do things. Also, I would like to get this blog going by asking this question: Who is more vital towards the success of the Ohio State Offense, Antonio Pittman or Teddy Ginn? I would have to go with Antonio Pittman, the most underrated back in the country. Week in and week out he seems to pound out 100 yards or more. He had what, 12 or 13 straight games with at least a touchdown? Ted is definitely a special talent, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if we could establish the run without Pitt. Let's start with Beanie. Beanie is going to be a great Ohio state back, but lacks experience and has the tendency to fumble the football. Maurice Wells needs to be shipped back to Florida. I believe he could have been a good back else where, but he just doesn't fit our brand of football. He isn't good between the tackles. He needs to be utilized in the open field. Good news for osu fans, Pitt plans on returning for his senior season. I believe there is more talent at wide out and I don't believe the offensive production would dwindle as much as if Teddy were sidelined.

Buckeye Chatter

Hello, My name is Kevin and I am currently in my last quarter here at Ohio State. Do not expect proper english...beause I don't give no crap. I love a good heated debate that does not involve politics or religion.
